Beyond Burnout: Reclaiming Purpose, Strengthening Boundaries, and Sustaining Clinical Vitality

Tuesday evening October 12, 2027 to Saturday morning October 16, 2027

You have spent years making room for other people’s stories, other people’s pain, other people’s needs.

This is an invitation to come home to your own body.

Step away from the demands of everyday practice and consider a different question: not simply “How do I recover from burnout?” but “How do I return to myself — and to a nervous system that is not always bracing for the next demand?”

Join us in October 2027 for Beyond Burnout at Aura Toscana, an experiential somatic and mindfulness retreat for clinical mental health professionals who want to reclaim themselves, restore their nervous systems, and approach their work from a steadier place.

Our setting is Aura Toscana, in the rolling hills of Tuscany — a space shaped for sanctuary, with rooms named for what they offer: Cocoon, Haven, Hearth, Nest, Nook, The Sanctuary. Vineyards, ancient villages, and long, unhurried days bring a distinctive sense of place to an experience centered on the body, breath, and attention.

Restoration is at the heart of this retreat: making room for meaningful clinical work without allowing that work to live in your body as chronic tension, exhaustion, or numbness.

You Do Not Have to Wait Until You Are Empty

Perhaps you still love your work, but your body is tired of carrying it.

Perhaps you know the language of regulation, yet your own nervous system rarely gets to practice it.

Perhaps you have rested, only to return to the same patterns — shoulders up, breath shallow, jaw tight — the moment practice resumes.

Or perhaps you are not looking for a dramatic change. You simply want space to feel yourself again before deciding what comes next.

This retreat invites you to pause — not to become a more productive version of an exhausted clinician, but to listen to what your body has been trying to tell you, and to practice a different way of being in your work.

You do not need to arrive with answers. You do not need to prove that you are struggling enough to deserve time away.

More Than a Conversation About Self-Care

Knowing that you need rest is different from letting your nervous system actually settle.

Understanding mindfulness is different from practicing it daily, in your body, with guidance.

Recognizing that you have lost yourself in the work is different from reclaiming yourself, breath by breath, choice by choice.

Beyond Burnout at Aura Toscana moves beyond awareness into embodiment. Through somatic training, breathwork, grounding exercises, restorative yoga, meditation, and guided reflection, you will practice regulation rather than just learning about it — and explore what it means to inhabit your own life again, not only your clinical role.

We will also make room for an important distinction: some challenges call for personal changes, while others require organizational support, shared responsibility, or a decision about what you can realistically continue to carry.

The goal is not another list of things you “should” do. It is a steadier nervous system, a self reclaimed, and a clearer sense of where to begin.

Mind Body Spirit Retreats invites therapists and helping professionals to Aura Toscana for a second Beyond Burnout training — one built around the body, breath, and attention rather than the classroom.

This is not a traditional conference. It is a slower, more embodied learning experience: somatic training, daily mindfulness, and guided practices for restoring the nervous system, set in the grounding landscape of the Tuscan countryside.

How This Training Differs from Monferrato

Beyond Burnout runs in two places, and they are not the same retreat.

  • Monferrato centers evidence-based renewal, boundaries as a clinical skill, purpose, and clinical vitality — a training-forward intensive with a strong reflective and professional-development arc.
  • Aura Toscana centers the body: more somatic training, more mindfulness, and a focus on reclaiming self and the nervous system. The learning here is experiential first — practiced, felt, and integrated — with less time in lecture and more time in movement, breath, stillness, and nature.

Clinicians who attend one will find the other genuinely different, not a repeat.

Why This Retreat Exists

Many helping professionals know the concepts of burnout recovery but have never had the space to live them. The nervous system cannot be reasoned back into balance; it has to be practiced back.

This retreat was created to offer:

  • Somatic training that restores regulation from the body up
  • Mindfulness practices paced for people who hold space for others all day
  • Space to reclaim the self underneath the clinician role
  • Professional development that replenishes rather than depletes

The pace, the setting, and the structure are intentionally designed so that restoration is not something you learn about — it is something you experience.

Why Aura Toscana?

Tuscany offers a naturally grounding pace: rolling hills, vineyards, ancient villages, and long, unhurried days. Stepping outside daily routines allows the nervous system to settle in ways a conference room cannot offer.

The setting supports regulation, curiosity, and connection — creating conditions where embodied learning can truly integrate.
