Beyond the Blarney: Ethics, Boundaries, Leadership & Supervision in the Heart of Ireland

The Experience: What Awaits You Beyond the Blarney

From the moment you arrive at The Old Deanery Estate, you’ll feel a shift—an exhale you may not have realized you’ve been holding. The centuries-old architecture, winding stone paths, and sweeping views of the Irish countryside immediately draw you in. There is a peacefulness here that invites you to slow down, open up, and settle into a different rhythm than the one back home. Each morning begins with the quiet magic of Ireland: soft sunlight over the rolling hills, the distant sound of church bells from the village of Ferns, and a warm cup of tea or coffee shared with colleagues who quickly begin to feel like friends.

Your continuing education sessions are intentionally paced and thoughtfully delivered—deep, practical, and energizing rather than draining or overwhelming. Instead of fluorescent-lit conference rooms, you’ll be learning in charming gathering spaces filled with natural light, old-world character, and an unmistakable sense of history. Your CE hours will cover ethics, boundaries, leadership, practice management, and advanced supervision skills, but the learning doesn’t end when the session does. Conversations spill into cozy nooks, fireside lounges, and lush gardens, where ideas come alive through shared stories, collaborative discussion, and genuine connection. This retreat is as much about transformation through community as it is about formal learning.

During St. Patrick’s Week, the entire region comes alive with music, color, and celebration—giving you a chance to experience the joy of Irish culture in its most vibrant form. Whether you join the group for a village parade, listen to traditional music in a local pub, or simply take in the festivities with a warm drink in hand, you’ll be part of something timeless and unforgettable.

As the days unfold, you’ll notice your world expanding—inward and outward. You’ll meet therapists from across the country who share your passion, your challenges, and your hopes for a more balanced, ethical, and sustainable practice. Meals are served family-style, encouraging connection, laughter, and the kind of honest conversations that lead to new friendships and professional alliances. Evenings often drift into relaxed gatherings where people decompress, share stories, process insights from the day, or simply unwind under the Irish night sky.

By the end of the retreat, you’ll have not only met your CE requirements—you’ll have gained something far more meaningful. You’ll return home with clearer boundaries, stronger ethical confidence, upgraded leadership and supervision tools, and actionable strategies to protect your peace while elevating your practice. And just as important, you’ll leave with a renewed sense of energy, purpose, and personal grounding that continues long after the retreat is over. Ireland leaves an imprint on those who visit, and this experience is designed to do the same—personally, professionally, and spiritually.
